THE ONE WHERE I REPEAT WHAT I JUST SAW ON TIVO

So White Sox Left Fielder Scott Podsednik was on SNL's Weekend Update on Saturday. A slightly abridged transcript:
Tina: Amy and I are so psyched that you are here. We are huge White Sox fans from way back because, you know, we both used to live in Chicago. Posednik: Oh really, what part? Amy: Wrigleyville. Tina: Evanston. Amy: So yeah. We're hard core Sox fans. Posednik: Really? People from the Northside are usually Cubs fans ... and yuppies. Have you guys ever even been to the Southside? Amy: Hells yeah! We're Southside all the way! I would always, you know, hop on the Red Line to Cominski Field! I bought my car at Celozzi-Ettleson Chevrolet! Amy & Tina: Celozzi-Ettleson Chevrolet: Where you always save more money! Tina: I flew out of Midway once! Posednik: Guys, you're Cubs fans, just admit it ... But this World Series win was for all the cursed teams and it belongs to all the people of Chicagoland. Amy: Even Skokie? Posednik: Even Skokie. Tina: Even Wilmette? Posednik: Even Wilmette. Amy: Even Schaumburg? Posednik: No. Not Schaumburg.

OCTOBERWEEN

So I went to a Halloween party last night at Jeff's house, and while it may be too brash for a rookie to call himself a Flip Cup Champion, I gotta say I did kick some serious Flip Cup ass. Meanwhile, I failed to come up with a decent costume -- the Sox sweep screwed up my plans to go as "Steve Bartman, White Sox Fan (need tickets!)" -- but there were some real winners. Crowd favorites included the "Pigs In Space" and Kevin's interactive costume "Frank, The Aladdin Casino Blackjack Dealer" (more coverage over at The Factor). My own favorite costume, however, was easily Jeff's, who came as Captain Morgan. Arrr!

GOT A TITLE FOR THIS POST? ENTER THE "TITLE THIS POST CONTEST" IN THE COMMENTS SECTION!

So I was going to do a post about all the "Believe it!" headlines in Chicago after the Sox victory, but it seems Chicagoist is all over it. Sorta. MEANWHILE: Wired explores the birth of the iTunes phone ... Jon Fortt states his case for a spot on the APME board ... and Newsdesigner's new link rankings remind us that life is a popularity contest (today I'm 14th -- eat it, Gawker).

IT'S A KARMA THING

So the White Sox won the World Thing-a-ma-hoo. And after all my gloating in front of my Southside friends during the Cubs' ill-fated run at a title, I suppose it was only fitting that Wednesday was the one day this week that I was working in sports. So not only did I have to suffer through the Sox sweep, I was forced to commemorate it as well. So I ask again: Where. Was effing Steve Bartman. When you need him?

THEY PAVED TARADISE AND PUT UP A PARKING LOT

So E! cancelled the Tara Reid international booze-a-thon Taradise last month. I'd never seen the show until this week, which makes me wonder why none of you had pointed this show out to me before. C'mon! It's bad-tastic! Man... I hope they put out some DVDs. Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got until it's gone? PICTURE PAGES: I finally put together a slideshow of photos from the SND workshop in Houston. Maybe this week I'll figure out that Flickr thing and add my photos to the batch already there. MEANWHILE: From Craig's List, (and in honor of the fact that the White Sox are in the World Series) Chicago-Centric Ways I'd Like to Kill Myself.
